What Do Elderly People Expect From Their Loved Ones

Elderly people expect more support and care from their loved ones. Some of these expectations include the following:
1- The presence of loved ones beside them: Elderly people strongly wish their relatives to be actively present with them, especially at times when they run into a problem.
2- Preserving respect and rights: Elderly people expect their loved ones to respect them and to observe their rights. This may include paying for medical and caregiving costs.
3- Care and support in times of need: Elderly people need support to face illnesses and physical and mental problems. They expect their loved ones to take care of them when needed.
4- Doing favourite activities: Elderly people expect their loved ones to give them the opportunity to enjoy the activities they are interested in.
5- Feeling valued: Elderly people strongly wish to feel that they are still cared about. This means listening to what they say and spending time with them.
