What is MS?
Multiple sclerosis affects the brain and spinal cord. Symptoms may include fatigue, changes in vision, tingling, balance difficulties or muscle stiffness. The course differs between people; a single symptom does not mean someone has MS.
Why specialist assessment matters
Diagnosis requires specialist assessment and several findings, rather than one test alone. Treatment and rehabilitation depend on the type of disease and the individual's circumstances.
The role of a companion at home
Plan daily activities around the person's abilities. Discuss rest, movement support and treatment follow-up with the care team. Do not automatically attribute sudden weakness or loss of vision to MS; urgent assessment may be needed.
